The Center for Practical Bioethics has a podcast with doctors Michael Green and Benjamin Levi on the status of the advance directive. Their discussion includes how the advance directive works now, how difficult it is for healthy patients to imagine future situations, how directives should serve as tools to discuss end of life care with family and doctors, and should evolve over time. It's an incredibly helpful podcast.
