Dom Deluise and The End, the movie.

Rest in Peace Dom DeLuise.

Of all the movies to make an early impression on me, The End, starring Dom DeLuise as a mild lunatic who works to assist terminally diagnosed Burt Reynolds to kill himself, gave me some of the most enduring impressions. DeLuise, of course, steals the movie. Unless you’re a Sally Field fan. The gallows humor (“It’s against the law, you know, to kill yourself.”) is corny and dated but the portrayal of relationships and how we grapple with ideas of death makes it worth watching – and remembering.

Great 4th Estate.

Anybody notice that Al Jazeera is about the only TV news organization doing work with teeth right now?
